Sunset Shimmer dreamed of bringing her knowledge back to Equestria, but not as an invader. If she wants Equestria to survive, she's going to have to help the humans save it—without helping them become its new rulers.
Sunset Shimmer's plan to escape the Steel Tower failed—but she is still returning home. Instead of a victorious pony, come back to gloat to her previous teacher about the secrets she had uncovered, she is an adviser to one of the most dangerous men alive: Tesla.
But it isn't a simple invasion; Equestria is under attack by demonic forces, and the Steel Tower has been invited to help. But there's another faction of humans in Equestria, one that is still at war, and one who Sunset suspects are plotting terrible things...
She isn't alone. One of her human friends, now trapped as a cybernetic bat pony, is sent on a covert mission of her own. Equestria may depend on them in ways they never could've realized.
Updates Thursdays.
This story is meant as a companion to Harmony Defended, and to take the place of the long-anticipated revision. I decided it would be better to write something new than to overhaul something that was so long in itself. This story will probably spoil various elements of that one, though the reverse will largely not be true. If all of this seems confusing, you should probably start with my first story in this series, My Little Apprentice. As that story was written in Season 4, this one will not necessarily incorporate the canon of future seasons of Friendship is Magic.
The Sunset Campaign was sponsored by Two Bit on my Patreon, who is generously sponsoring me to clean up my tangled web of previous stories. Sparktail and Two Bit did the editing, and Zutcha did the cover.
The Harvest Family farm is on the brink of financial collapse. Can this Lord Barleycorn really deliver on all his promises?
Hollow Shades is a small farming and lumberjacking community, a tiny bubble of Equestria smack in the middle of the Everfree Forest. Things have been hard-going since the lumber mill was closed down by its aristocratic owner, and the town is slowly dying. The fate of the town weighs heavily even on the town's youth, with young filly Corn Crib of the Harvests being intimately aware of the fact things aren't going well for her family and friends. And then, a ray of hope comes into her life when she encounters a most unusual figure on the road nearby; a talking scarecrow, one that claims to be Lord Barleycorn, the King of Autumn, who promises to help her however he can. Can the two of them succeed in breathing life back into Hollow Shades?
This is a lighthearted story that contains lots of OCs and an original setting. The mane six will appear, but not until later chapters.
First time featured was May 23, 2014! I can't believe it! Thank you everyone! =3 And now recommended on TVTropes! Picture was made by my friend Escopeto. He did a fantastic job of representing my story.
A mysterious new enemy has appeared in Ponyville and demands the respect he's due for his evil deeds. If only he could get the fear and quaking he's shooting for.
It was another quiet day in Ponyville when that peace was shattered by the arrival of a new foe.
What does this new enemy want, and to what depths will it stoop to to gain victory over the so-called Elements of Harmony?
At the moment before she leaves Equestria forever, Sunset Shimmer's destiny is taken away from her. A new path unmarked by pony hooves is placed before her.
Sunset Shimmer had everything. Personal protégé of the Sun Princess herself, top marks in the School for Gifted Unicorns, and the honor of being dubbed the greatest arcanist since Starswirl the Bearded.
Until she threw it all away.
In the last moments before leaving Equestria forever, her destiny is snatched away right before her eyes. Once upon a time the story of the lives of herself, Twilight Sparkle, and the path of Equestrian History went one way, a story that we all know well. But in every stand of woods there is a path untrotted, one with a different story and new experiences.
Chrysalis coming to her to ask for friendship was something Celestia always hoped would one day happen. She did not expect things to go like this though.
After having fought and won many battles against the changeling Queen, Princess Celestia always hoped that one day her offer of peace would be accepted and that Chrysalis would walk in her castle as a friend and not as an enemy.
She did not think it would happen like this. She thought the changeling would come in through the door rather than the window, for starters.
Theo knew arctic research was dangerous. He didn't know those dangers involved getting sucked into other worlds, changing into a bird, and having to somehow find a way home. Turns out it was more dangerous than he thought.
Theodor Pichler knew joining the Barrow Observatory's winter crew would be a difficult position. He thought he knew the danger--freezing temperatures, gale-force winds, and terribly spotty broadband coverage. What he didn't expect was for an experimental new telescope array to interact with an unusual storm and send him screaming helplessly into the sky.
Instead of falling to his death, Theo landed in an alien world, populated by colorful horses he can't understand. What's worse: the body he landed in isn't his own, and he's not sure anything is where it should be. Having wings might be cool if he didn't have to be naked all the time...
With limited supplies and no help from the Observatory, Theo has to somehow navigate this new land, making new friends and encountering terrible dangers along the way. It will take all his cleverness, and a healthy dose of luck, if he's ever to be human again.

Stupid Human takes a trip to Equestria. But not the Equestria that he was wanting.
* Voted Twice as the #1 Comedy FanFic on Equestria Daily *
Well, what can I say? This is the story of a man. Or maybe he was... a pony-man. Or maybe he was just a... Pony! But he was still...
FIREWAAAAAAAALLLL!!!!
... Yeah, this is that story. The story where a guy goes to a party and wakes up in Ponyville. That guy (I know him as 'me') seems to have landed in his own personal little heaven. Hell, I even brought me a pack of endless cigarettes. How does that not kick all kinds of flank?
So yeah, everything was awesome. The End.
Well, except for The Nightmare. And Trixie. And some jerk named David. Then there was that Azure Flora pony. And that skank princess that steals my goddamn phone!
Listen, summaries just... They just don't cut it. If you want the story, it's provided right here.
After an evil necromancer curses some of the mane six's closest friends, they're forced to reconcile to the fact that there might not be a cure. What does a pony do who only has a year to live?
What's a pony to do when they know they've only got a year to live?
That's the question facing some of the ponies closest to the mane six, after a horrible curse has stolen all but their last year of life away. As Twilight Sparkle scrambles desperately for a cure, they're forced to face the awful reality that she might not find it in time.
The world is vast and so is time, but not even that can hide the existence of an ancient city forever.
A post-apocalyptic story about exploring ruins, the mistakes of another civilization, and memory.
No one must ever know, This land where we must go, They hoped and shared their love, Yet death rained from above, The scars of passing linger on, Through empty husks and unheard songs. Although they now live in my heart, The truth still hurts...where do I start?-Twilight Sparkle

A story that explains friendship and what it can mean
What is friendship?
Is it a term or something so much more?
And can you be a friend to something so different but so similar to you?
Something that I'm sure has been done to death but, since reading East of Eden, I wanted to do something a little more thought provoking. I got the idea while I was alone in my house, with just the sound of a clock ticking to keep me company.
After his sudden death on his way to school due to an idiot driver, Ken Williams wakes up to find himself as a strange quadruped with wings and a horn.
Set shortly after the season 5 premiere, but before episode three
Romance tag readded due to a lack of a certain mare having a ship in the finale.
Normally, Ken wouldn't have minded finding an excuse to get out of school. However, being hit by a car and suddenly waking up as a strange four legged creature with purple fur, wings and a horn is not something he'd have chosen just to play hooky.
Now in a world he continually doesn't understand and makes him... now a her, want to pull her hair out, Ken must learn how to coincide with the creatures of Equestria, while finding her place in this bizare world that defies all senses of logic she was raised with. On top of that, she's now apparently a princess and has to deal with nobles fawning over her, including one male who she knows is definitely just trying to get into her new female parts to breed, and she'll have none of that.
Of all the things she could've chosen to get out of school, this was definitely not one of them and she just wants to go back to normal. Sadly, that doesn't seem likely to happen any time soon.
Though not pertaining to the main character, Romance tag does still apply to other characters in this story. It's just the Tag Limiter wouldn't let me keep Romance Tag after I edited the description a little, so had to remove the tag, even if it still holds some small weight on the story.
Featured Box 16-18/8/2015. Okay. Seriously did not see that coming.

Featured Box again 6/11/2016 if only for a few moments. I... I honestly don't know what to say
When The Royal Sisters are transported to a country at war, they must find its hero if they ever want to get home and stop the madness of the daedra.
The Daedric Prince of Madness is a man of unknowable motives. There is no way of understanding the insanity that he unleashes upon others or what he will do in the next moment.
When he goes to check up on his old Brother in Madness Discord, he is unpleased to find a completely peaceful land devoid of chaos. The first thing he takes his frustrations out on are the Royal Sisters. The next thing they know, they are transported to a savage world of magic engulfed in war. At opposite ends of the province, they must quickly learn to survive without each other, and find the mighty hero of the land, if they are to ever to fulfill the prophecy, make it home, and end the madness of the Daedra. That is if they can handle the madness of the hero they are to meet....
(This is going to take place after Season 3 and before Season 4)
(The Dragonborn in this is going to be based on the default Nord look to make the story flow a little better. His personality will be somewhat reminiscent of Star-Lord's from Guardians of the Galaxy: Just a bit silly in his free time, but serious and stoic when the situation calls for it.)
(To all those wondering, don't worry, the Death tag is only there cause naturally, Skyrim is a place where you can almost use literally anything to kill someone and almost anything can kill you. And the Sex tag is only there for occasional IMPLIED sexual stuff, and a little romance, nothing too overblown) meaning: it has a PG-13 Rating. So nothing is actually described in explicit detail
(And because of his help on this, Mr. Aquino is going to join with me to bring a certain Merc with A Mouth into the story at one point in the future for a triple crossover that will last for a few chapters. PREPARE FOR NONSENSICAL FUN!)
(And just as any author on this site will tell you, be gentle with me, this is my first fic, so there's no guarantee that it will exactly be perfect.)
It all happened so suddenly. Everyone in the USA was living their life, then they were not on Earth. For those living on the mainland, they were still together, on a new continent. Others were thrown to the ponies, or the griffons. It gets worse.

The president is in a panic, the entire government is. How can they not be? All connection to the known powers of the world, suddenly cut off. The stars in the sky are all wrong, but who has time for that? There is no more oil coming in, Alaska's production just... stopped. Are those people alive, or are they back on Earth?
I thought having to move house was stressful. Now I'm Cozy Glow and I'd glady take the stress of moving over this!
The last few weeks have not been easy.
I'd finally been able to move out of the home I've been living in in the area i've been living in for pretty much my whole life.
The move, setting things up and adapting to my new home's differences and the new location had not been easy.
Still, I'd gladly take that stress over what I'm stuck with now. One moment I'm walking through the city to head back to the house and the next I'm Cozy Glow, hovering between a buffed up Tirek and mutated Chrysalis and it looks like the Rainboom Laser of Death is headed our way.
Oh, and, before we switched places, Cozy somehow became and Alicorn.
What the fuck is going on?!
Was inspired to write this after reading My Life As A Psychopathic Nine Year Old Filly and thought I'd give it a shot, as writing a character stuck as Cozy Glow and dealing with the aftermath of all her shit, especially the finale, would be funny

Wow. Honestly was not expecting that. Thank you, everyone. I will try to do my best to make this story worth that praise.
Equestria's first interstellar ship is crewed by the best and brightest Equestria has to offer. Twilight Sparkle and her friends are determined to uncover the origin of the mysterious alien Signal, no matter what it costs. A comment-driven story.
Twilight Sparkle was only a filly when Equestria detected the enigmatic Signal. A series of increasingly complex mathematical proofs, the Signal transformed from an intriguing curiosity to reliable evidence of extraequestrian life.
And as it happened, Equestria's exploration of their own solar system was nearly complete. With colonies orbiting every planet and large body, and an asteroid belt filled with miners and prospectors, Twilight's civilization was just about ready to turn its focus outward. The signal was less than ten light-years away, within reach of a daring, experimental voyage. A voyage Twilight Sparkle would lead.
Along with a small crew of the most skilled scientists and engineers Equestria could offer, Twilight is determined to uncover the mystery of the Signal, and brave the final frontier for future generations of Equestrian explorers.
A comment-driven, CYoA story. Please use the links provided in the author's notes of each chapter to vote, rather than the comments.
This story is a creative experiment of mine, one meant to explore the general idea that creativity is often most fostered by restrictions. As a result, I've imposed a number of restrictions on the writing of this story, which I'm stating explicitly here so I can be called out if I break any of them.
1. Brevity is the soul of wit No chapter may be more than 1000 words long. This wordcount only includes prose, and not the questions/rolls.
2. Every choice matters When a choice is offered in a chapter, at least one sub-optimal choice must be present, with no indication about which is which other than the prose itself. Every chapter should end with a CYoA-style decision tree when possible.
3. Fate is cruel and the universe is heartless The decision of the vote must be respected. This means any character could be killed, or the entire story could end in failure, if that's what the votes decide. Where numbers, stats, and randomization appear in the text, these elements are not verisimilitude, but are decided by public diecrolls in my discord server.
Note: Because of the unusual production of this story, its chapters won't be edited in the same way as my usual fare. Feel free to point out any mistakes you encounter.
Awesome cover by Zutcha as you can probably tell. Editing stuff by Two Bit and Sparktail, where applicable.
Rainbow Dash finds a maimed, unconscious young colt on the edge of Ponyville and rushes him to the hospital, but nopony knows who he is and something about him seems off...
Rainbow Dash's morning was pretty much ruined. She tripped getting out of bed and landed flat on her face, giving herself an aching muzzle. She forgot to buy her favorite brand of hay flakes at the store yesterday and had to eat plain toast for breakfast. She found out she had to pull double-duty today and tomorrow on the weather patrol. Oh, and she found a nearly-dead foal, broken and bleeding at the edge of Ponyville.
The rest of her day became a whirlpool of stress and worry but the colt woke up, thank Celestia. Something's not right, though. Nopony can find his parents, he's not in the registers, and there's an unsettling look in his eye...
A 2nd Person Human in Equestria clopfic told from the perspective of Roseluck the Pony.
Your name is Rose, you're a simple pony with simple needs. Though, unlike those you walk among, you can say you're much more fearful of the unknown then they are. So when a human comes stumbling out of the woods you find yourself being deathly afraid, more so than you need to be.
While he makes friends with the populace, you hide under your bed thinking that he'll eat you alive. As he moves about you think about all the ponies he could possibly be hurting...
But when the two of you cross paths for a second time you realize that maybe the thought of him hunting a pony no... hunting YOU wouldn't be so bad.
His teeth, eyes, his looming figure that seems to blot out the sun when he stands over you, instead of fear you feel... excitement?
Warning: A unique fetish I call "Flower Clopping" is made apparent in this story Warning: Predator on Prey Fetish is made apparent in this story.
