Princess Twilight Sparkle decided to settle down by asking her true love to marry her and "he" accepted her proposal. It's a great moment in the young Alicorn's life, and her friends are elated at their friend's news.
Except for one of them.
Discord, the Lord of Chaos, can't believe what's happening, and tries to talk some sense into the ponies. Too bad nopony will listen to him. Why is Discord trying to talk Twilight out of marrying her true love?
Her "true love" is a book! Yes, B-O-O-K, book!
This story takes place late in season 5.

Twilight awakens one morning with an odd tic: she can't stop talking in cliches and phrases. All this, on the eve of a big speech in Canterlot, too. Starlight tries to help, but might her magical 'remedy' cause more problems than it solves?
As a result of her studious research, Twilight Sparkle had discovered that the key ingredient in Zecora's memory potion was unicorn essence... and that essence had to be harvested from a family member! Now she just has to actually COLLECT it!
Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer did their homework, researching the strange and shadowy past of the unicorn memory spell that had saved Ponyville from the encroaching vines of the Everfree Forest. It was then that they discovered the well-kept secret of the extremely frequently used EUV, long thought to mean Equestrian-Universal-Volume augmenter... but which actually meant essentia unicornis virilem...

Even crazier, Starswirl's potions had additional requirements built into them... requiring EUC to be collected by an alicorn... from a family member!
Follow along with Twilight as the family dinner she'd gone to suddenly becomes an opportunity to gather the critical ingredient that could end up saving Equestria... and see if she is able to resist the temptation to do her duty... and her brother.
Twilight needs to brew a new brew of Zecora's potion of Alicorn remembrance... Unfortunately for her the key ingredient must come from an inconvenient source: her brother's stallionhood!

Even worse, the archaic requirements suggest that the stallion must be Shining Armor... and the extractor must be Twilight herself!

With Twilight being distracted from her true quest, she decided it would be better messing things up in the name of science. And I’d get to watch everything happen right in front of me and outside the splash zone.

Twilight has a secret. Specifically, she's been studying something in secret for the past couple of months, and won't tell anypony what it is that she's doing.
After his sudden death on his way to school due to an idiot driver, Ken Williams wakes up to find himself as a strange quadruped with wings and a horn.
Set shortly after the season 5 premiere, but before episode three
Romance tag readded due to a lack of a certain mare having a ship in the finale.
Normally, Ken wouldn't have minded finding an excuse to get out of school. However, being hit by a car and suddenly waking up as a strange four legged creature with purple fur, wings and a horn is not something he'd have chosen just to play hooky.
Now in a world he continually doesn't understand and makes him... now a her, want to pull her hair out, Ken must learn how to coincide with the creatures of Equestria, while finding her place in this bizare world that defies all senses of logic she was raised with. On top of that, she's now apparently a princess and has to deal with nobles fawning over her, including one male who she knows is definitely just trying to get into her new female parts to breed, and she'll have none of that.
Of all the things she could've chosen to get out of school, this was definitely not one of them and she just wants to go back to normal. Sadly, that doesn't seem likely to happen any time soon.
Though not pertaining to the main character, Romance tag does still apply to other characters in this story. It's just the Tag Limiter wouldn't let me keep Romance Tag after I edited the description a little, so had to remove the tag, even if it still holds some small weight on the story.

Instead of getting Spike a birthday present, Twilight finds herself trapped in a closed universe. A fictional universe, she believes, where nothing is real. Mike has a different opinion about that.
(A PoE story.) Additional Tags: (Slice Of Life) All Twilight wanted was to give Spike a special gift for his birthday. Yes, it was a book, but it was a very special book. An Enchanted Book like that Power Ponies comic they had recently experienced. Things went wrong when Spike startled Twilight as she was working the spell for his (secret) gift. Needless to say, startling Twilight while she's in the middle of a spell can be a bad idea - as certain frogs can tell you. Twilight has every reason to believe that she is now trapped in a closed reality bubble fabricated out of her own magic, with no way out. She's lost in some made-up universe reflecting some random story line. Mike, of course, has a different opinion about the matter.

Twinkle Twinkle was a very strange unicorn who other ponies thought was defective, but when she is stolen away from the freezing pony nation by a hungry dragon, can she survive, and in the process bring friendship to both ponies and dragons?
While fleeing the Windigo with the rest of the pony nation, Twinkle Twinkle was stolen away from her family by a hungry dragon. However, she was not afraid. In fact, she was determined to learn all about the creatures before her inevitable demise. That was because Twinkle was a very peculiar little unicorn, with a mind that other unicorns considered defective, and quite weird. Can a strange unicorn who is unable to feel fear survive in the lair of a dragon, and save the lives of every pony and dragon alike when faced with a threat that they cannot defeat alone?
Twinkle Twinkle is about to find out. And in the process, she will bring the dragons a completely new gift they have never possessed before.
Once again, Spike being Twilight's one and only assistant, gives into one of her crazy experiments.
After a long day of running around Ponyville, Spike expects to come home and relax, but Twilight has other ideas. After using a spell to change him into a pony their night and relationship change forever.
