I never knew seaponies were real until I crashed near Mount Aris, home to the once called Hippogriffs. I was greeted by Skystar, my first ally and friend. Time goes on and the two of us were inseparable.
I wake up on an island I never knew existed, then came up a mountain, where I met Skystar, princess of Seaquestria. I never knew such creatures could be real, but they are. Due to me discovering them, I am ordered to stay here for the rest of my life, never to go back home and tell of this wonderful place.
Time goes by, as I live among the seaponies, I became trustworthy to many and was seen differently than what they always believed on human. Skystar began to see me more than just a friend.
Rainbow has worked hard to become an astronaut, and is shocked to learn that her friends have turned her first trip to space into a mere publicity stunt. When things go wrong, she must put her objections aside if any of them hope to make it home alive.
Turns out the bureaucracy has no idea how to deal with Flurry Heart either.
First you're born, and then you're recorded in triplicate. The end of labor is the start of a very long paper trail, because nopony can exist without being documented. Sending copies of a new foal's documents to the Herdbook Registry is perfectly normal. And of course, in order to make sure there's nothing strange going on, that paperwork gets reviewed. Which is done by bureaucrats who establish absolute control inside their office while having no idea of what's happening in the actual world. So as far as they're concerned, the forms associated with somepony named 'Flurry Heart'...
Don't tell them. It's funnier if they find out on their own.

For his trouble he is now on a journey, with the long term goal of finding his way back home, only to find himself involved in plots and machinations so far above his head and cares that he quickly becomes a pawn in a game played by powers who care not for his well-being.
Quite like his life back on Earth if you think about it.
Needless to say, Handy does not care for any of it. He is much more preoccupied with the more immediate and pressing mundane concerns of day to day life a human needs to worry about while in Equestria.

For several thousand years the world was cursed never to receive a male heir, and only through will of the Sun Princess Celestia and the advanced magical sciences, was the world able to allow a means of procreation for all the races. As efficient as it was, Twilight Sparkle was not satisfied with this arrangement, and summoned a human male from another world. Unfortunately she did not consider the side effects of this, and now every female that he touches goes into an irresistible heat.
