Sometimes, things don't go exactly as one plans. Sometimes one spills their coffee, sometimes they might be late to a meeting, sometimes an entire eight-person exploration ship rams a planet that they didn't notice at significant speeds.
This is one of those times, with the UGS Possibility smashing into the planet of Equus, bringing a veritable cache of impossible wonders... if only its keepers can be convinced to share it. Needless to say, every sizeable power that hears of it wants a piece of the pie, some with far less scrupulous methods than others.

But when Misty Breeze showed him ‘how to make fillies happy’, she never went into all the details of explaining pregnancy and how to avoid it. She told him to ask his mom for help finding a marefriend, expecting that his mother would be the best pony to tell him about that ... or not tell him about that, if Cream wanted grandchildren as soon as possible.
That means that by the time Button’s done showing the Crusaders what he learned about making fillies happy, all three of them will be creampied and very, very pregnant. Turns out that Cream’s plan to get grandchildren is going to be far more effective than she planned.

Ponies had plenty of festivals and celebrations for the changing seasons. Winter Wrap-Up, Spring Finish, Summer Sun Celebration, Summer’s End, Harvest Festival . . . they were a chance for ponies to socialize, to bond, and to prepare for what was to come next.
For all their schedules and festivals, there wasn't one for the first fire of the season, and there should have been.
