A story that explains friendship and what it can mean
What is friendship?
Is it a term or something so much more?
And can you be a friend to something so different but so similar to you?
Something that I'm sure has been done to death but, since reading East of Eden, I wanted to do something a little more thought provoking. I got the idea while I was alone in my house, with just the sound of a clock ticking to keep me company.
What if when the Crystal Empire had returned, Shining and Cadence had not beaten Sombra to it? The King returns to his old tricks, enslaving the population once-again, leading them into a new age of despair and misery.
That is, of course, what might have happened if a certain deranged Human hadn't woken up in the snowy wastes clothed in nothing but a singlet, a set of Boxers covered in hearts and smilely faces and armed with an empty bottle of vegetable juice and a large wheel of cheese.
All that is certain is that the Crystal Empire will never be the same again...
Also, on May 5, 2014, the fic encountered a massive flamewar of epic proportions. Blood was spilt and there was much lamenting.

Twilight is teleported to Blood Gulch Canyon after meddling with a ship that crash landed in Equestria. She must enlist the help of the local red and blue soldiers to get home while unraveling a dark conspiracy linking her world to a shadowy agency.
Everything changes for Twilight Sparkle and her friends when a mysterious extraterrestrial ship crash lands in Equestria. When Twilight messes around in the ship's systems with her magic, she ends up transported to an alien world unlike anything she imagined: a box canyon in the middle of nowhere.
To get home, Twilight must enlist the help of the eccentric Red and Blue soldiers that live there... if she can get them to stop bickering first! Additionally, she finds herself being pursued by the enigmatic military agency known only as Project Freelancer. Back in Equestria, all is not well for Twilight's friends as forces involved with the crashed ship make themselves known. Reds, Blues and ponies will all have to work together to discover the mysterious connection between Equestria and Project Freelancer.
A crossover with Red vs Blue. Written with the intention for the story to be followable without having watched the series. (just don't expect to get all the references).
A normal teenager (who's an anti-brony, by the way) gets sent from a costume party to Equestria, and shenanigans ensue.
After going to that stupid costume party, a teenager named Chris wakes to find himself in a magical world of anthropomorphic ponies. Well, this world seems real enough, and he is dressed as a terrifying, evil wizard, so why not have some fun? Well, after making the wrong impression, Chris, now wanted under the moniker "Malideus", is now running for his life from four vengeful princesses, The Elements of Harmony, a dragon, and every one else who wants a piece of "Malideus". With the whole world out to get him, and no actual powers to speak of, what can Chris do to save himself? Getting his hands on some actual magic would be a start, but using it might take some practice.
Luck can only take you so far, and for The Courier it won't last much longer.
He never loses a fight. He can walk through camps of Raiders and defeat them without firing a single bullet. He has been banned from all of the Strip's casinos, twice. Someone once reported that bullets turn around and jump back into the gun when he is fired at. He has survived nearly everything, hardly breaking a sweat all the while. So what will happen when his luck finally runs out?

Luna, and her special someone, have a bit more fun than what video games can provide. but it only takes place after she gets more than a little frustrated while up late and playing her games.
Human in Equestria? Check. Trying to find his way home? Check. Surrounded by clueless candy-colored equines? Check. Magically soul-bonded to Twilight Sparkle using dread necromantic magic and an evil artifact? Check.
After escaping the Changeling gladiator arena at the cost of a friend's life, Equestria's lone human is attacked and befriended by Twilight Sparkle. This begins a long, strange, and confusing adventure to return home, and discover why he even arrived.

Emphasis on "worked." We were probing yet another long-abandoned underground city when my employer finally found the fabled Sphere of Meganacus...only to find it wasn't exactly friendly to humans. Now my boss, my best friend, and my worst enemy are all tiny sentient horses. Yes, I really just said that.
Did I mention they're a lot younger, now, too? God, I need a drink. I hate babysitting operations.
What happens when The Rookie from Ghostbusters The Video Game gets sent to Equestria by accident? Chaos.
When The Ghostbusters defeated Shandor by crossing the streams, a blast sent them all flying back to their world except for one, The Rookie. Now The Rookie, real name Bryan Welsh, has been sent to a year before the summer sun's celebration. Alone and on his own, Bryan must find a way back to the other busters and fast for if he takes too long, there's a chance he could be stuck there forever.

After being expelled from Canterlot by the irresistible force of love and badly injured after crash-landing in trees, he had to reconsider his future. Ponies knew that changelings existed now, and the only example of them was Chrysalis' attempt to overthrow Celestia and their attack on Canterlot's population. His kind would be pariahs for the foreseeable future and maybe even their disguises would not keep them safe. A unicorn mare with a broken horn might do the trick though.
There is now a prequel to this story - Prelude To Change I suggest that you read that first.
