One catch, though. I am also a changeling Queen, and the friends and family I just mentioned are all my subjects, and children as well. They don't even know it, but everything's working out alright, so no reason to tell them! I do promise to try and keep this light hearted and relatively comedic. Oh right I wrote this in response to the 50 000 word pony story contest. I failed horribly but I thought I'd post what I've got up here. I do plan on finishing this and it being around 50 000 words in the end.
A little warning for you in that the prologue is written very differently then the rest of the story. Also it is mostly unnecessary if you want to skip it altogether. The other thing I promise is that the romance is between ponies only and ponies that appear in the show.

Seth Conway, in a bout of spontaneity that he hoped would give him that very direction he craved, took up the military’s offer to send volunteer recruits across The Portal to train and serve with their equine counterparts in a show of camaraderie. The promise of adventure and purpose greater than himself—directly benefiting the human and equine races—was hard to pass up.
The whole justification for this, in his mind, was “Why not? What’s the worst that could happen?”
But maybe in meeting a beautiful, shy, lavender-eyed mare named Schneeblume with her own… decorated past will have him asking the question: “What’s the best that could happen?" And In the end, perhaps both of them may find something they've been looking for.

When they get there, they discover a dragon chasing some strange creature, which turns out to be a human college student named Allen Benton who's ended up in their world by accident. Now, he'll need the help of Twilight and her friends so he can find an item he dropped in the mountains that is the key to getting home. However, recovering and using the item may not be as simple a process to get home as he thinks. And after spending time in their world, will Allen still be so eager to return to his life on Earth?
Note: This story takes place after the events of the season 3 pilot "The Crystal Empire - Parts 1&2". It is also a complete reboot of my HiE universe and has no bearing on my original multi-chapter stories. This tale is one of several story arcs I have planned for this new universe, and unlike my past ongoing stories, I have planned and developed this one infinitely better. I have a clear path of where each arc is going and they will build on each other.

A few months later, her sister was dead, "uploaded" to Celestia's virtual world of Equestria Online. When that happened, Abby was forced to cut ties with Ashley, and she never expected to see her again.
She didn't, until one day she bought an augmented reality headset for its advertised ability to bring a free tutor to her whenever she needed one. Needless to say, Abby couldn't have guessed who would be helping her with her math homework.
Of course, Celestia wasn't going to stop there. Spending eternity without your family is hardly an optimal configuration.

Shining Armor and Twilight are spending a few days with their parents for a reprieve and one night the stallion walks into his sister's bedroom. There he finds an odd book labeled "How To Train a Princess" from the peculiar Enchanted Bookstore. Without realizing it he is magically transformed into an alicorn princess and now has to complete a course of strange classes within the tome. The courses will be hard and many will take days within the strange universe that this book constructed. He will have to pass a final test in which he may either turn back into a stallion or remain a princess alicorn forever.
